The First Annual Cuppy’s Barista Scholarship Awards Essay Contest
Guidelines and Rules
Cuppy’s is proud to sponsor the First Annual Scholarship Essay Contest for its baristas. The Grand Prize winner will receive a $500.00 Scholarship Savings Bond towards the college of their choice and publication of their essay in the Bean Street Journal. 
Encourage your high school seniors to enter this contest. Cuppy’s has always been about our families, community and the education of our youth. This essay will not only encourage our baristas to succeed, but also promote a family atmosphere among all our open stores nationwide. Details for entry can be found online at the franchisee portal and on page 6 of this edition. Show your support for our young people by encouraging them to enter.
Prizes and Awards
Grand Prize winner: A $500.00 Scholarship Savings Bond to be used towards college and publication of essay in the Bean Street Journal. A plaque to the Grand Prize Winner. President of Cuppy’s Coffee will present winner with award.
1st Place winner: Publication of essay in the Bean Street Journal and personalized tamper and certificate of 1st Place finish. A $100 Gift Certificate at local Bookstore or College Bookstore of choice.
2nd Place winner. Publication in the BSJ, certificate of 2nd place finish and $50 Gift Certificate to local bookstore.
Rules and Eligibility
Must be a Cuppy’s Coffee Barista
Must be a Senior in High School
Must have an A-B average in school and a good attendance record.
Must provide list of colleges applied to
Must provide an essay to be eligible for consideration. The topic “Working at Cuppy’s Coffee, I have learned…” Deadline for entries April 15, 2008
Maximum word count not to exceed 500 words
Must be typed written in essay format 1.5 or double spaced. Can be emailed as an attachment to editor@cuppys.com or sent via USPS to Barista Scholarship Essay, Attn: Editor BSJ, 348 Miracle Strip Pkwy, Suite 16A, Ft Walton Beach, FL 32548. Records can be faxed to 850-243-2041
Must be signed by both contestant and Franchisee owner/manager on coversheet or top right margin of first pageName, city, store number and word count in upper left hand corner or cover sheet.
Judging
Judging will be an in house panel of corporate staffJudges decisions are final.
Judged on originality, grammar, punctuation and spelling.
Winners are announced in May 2008. Submissions become the property of Cuppy’s Coffee Smoothies & More and “The Bean Street Journal”. Winners and contestants understand that their entries will/may be published and that no compensation other than prize awards is offered. Cuppy’s Coffee and BSJ retain all First American Rights, Electronic Rights and/or World Rights to all entries submitted. Cuppy’s Coffee and BSJ may at anytime use photos and/or likeness of contest winners and their entries, to use in any promotions without further compensation.
